Thought for the month

Community is important – it says that when Christianity started that the people had all things in common – in todays age when we seem to be more distant than ever from our neighbours and even our friends & family its important to remind ourselves that being part of a community where we care for one another, is beneficial – we need to remind ourselves that instead of focusing on our differences with one another its much better to focus on what unites us.

Using the church building

If you want to make inquiries about using the building for community activities, please contact Lionel Taylor on 0161 343 1959. If we can help, we would be glad to do so.

‘Meet the Bible’ course

Starting 10th June, this is a new eight week course looking at

  • What the Bible is

  • How it was written

  • What it has to say

This course has been designed for people who would like an introduction to the Bible.

As possibly the best-known book in the world, the Bible remains hugely important to many people across the globe. And yet the contents of the Bible are something of a mystery. This course will help dispel some of that mystery…

The course consists of eight sessions, each one covering a key issue relating to the Bible.

We will look at:

  • What is in the Bible: the different books and what they are about?

  • Who wrote the Bible and when?

  • The purpose of the books within the Bible: why they were written, who were they written for, and what was the purpose of writing them?

We will be also looking at some of the most famous passages in the Bible, and considering what they actually mean in the context in they were written.

This course is for anyone who is interested in knowing more about the Bible. You do not need any previous knowledge of the Bible, and the sessions will be quite informal, allowing time for discussion and questions (along with tea and biscuits).

The course will run every Monday evening at 7:30 – 9pm. The first session will be on Monday 10th June. There is no charge for the sessions. Please just turn up if you are interested. If you want further information please contact David Hanley on 07815 558299. We are looking forward to meeting you
